Instructions and information on general care for bonsai trees

Bonsai trees need similar care as any other plant below, and it's a basic bonsai tree care scheme.

light

Many people are not aware that most bonsai trees should be kept outdoors year-round. The few exceptions are the unconventional tropical trees that need to be kept indoors if you're not in a tropical environment. bonsai care

Bonsai should be placed outdoors where it will get six or more hours of light each day. Bonsai

Your indoor bonsai should receive two to four hours of natural or artificial sunlight. For the full spectrum indoor bonsai, fluorescent can provide the necessary light levels but the tree should be placed close to the light. Bonsai

quench

More trees die from lack of water or low humidity than anything else. The soil for bonsai cultivation is usually porous, well-draining soil. The type of soil as well as the shape and design of the pot will quickly affect the drying out of the soil. Different tree species require different amounts of water to thrive. You will need to research specific types of the tree for general guidance and then closely monitor how the tree is growing to determine if it is properly watered. If you take your pot and place it on top of some rocks in a tray filled with water, this will increase the humidity around the tree and help it grow. Along with regular watering once a week, the bonsai tree should be completely submerged so that no more bubbles seep out of the pot or the soil. bonsai trees

pruning

Pruning serves a dual purpose in caring for bonsai trees. Pruning removes branches that spoil and hinder the tree's aesthetic design. Pruning is also used to direct and control tree growth. You will also have good pruning like pinching and leaf pruning to help encourage branching. Always remember when you are pruning your bonsai that you can always remove something later but it is very difficult to bring it back after cutting it. So if in doubt, leave it for now. You should start with a light pruning, then give it two or three weeks and wait for the bounce again to decide if you need to do more. Pay special attention to the development of the stem, anywhere on the stem that allows the branch to grow will thicken. When pruning, you must keep the top and bottom (roots) in balance for best results. bonsai plant

Fertilize 'fertilize'

The average bonsai will need to be fertilized once or twice a month. It should only be fertilized during the normal growing season. We are a water-soluble fertilizer and apply it when the soil is already wet. bonsai tree care

the soil

Proper soil selection is critical to optimal bonsai tree care, as the soil affects the tree’s roots, nutrition and watering. The size and shape of the container affect the appearance, growth, and health of the bonsai. As a rule, the tree is about 3/4 long and roughly half its depth. The height of the pot should be approximately the same diameter as the stem. Bonsai soil is designed to improve drainage. It is usually a mixture of coarse sand or gravel with peat or bark added for an organic component. Different trees will need different proportions of pellet to humus. Typically, deciduous trees need about 70% humus and 30% granules while evergreens thrive best with 30% humus and 70% granules. bonsai care

Re-fate

Restoring pot is a critical component of bonsai care. It is essential to help maintain the balance of the roots and the top of the tree. Bonsai trees should be replanted every two or three years. When putting the bonsai back into a pot, you need to trim the roots. You will usually need to remove about a third of the root ball. You need to cut all the ball around the ball to keep it in balance. bonsai care

  3. The main purpose of pruning is to improve the structure of the tree. In essence, pruning consists of controlled removal of branches, so there is also the benefit of clearing broken branches.
